Quanto maior a banda, maior a taxa de dados. Por exemplo, se tivermos \u03bb= 1.3&#215;10<sup>-6<\/sup> e \u0394\u03bb= 0.17&#215;10<sup>-6<\/sup>, ent\u00e3o, \u0394f ser\u00e1 de cerca de 30 THz. A 8 bits\/Hz, por exemplo, teremos 240 Tbps.<\/p>\n<p>O espectro de freq\u00fc\u00eancias \u00e9 regulado de modo a permitir o uso organizado das diferentes faixas para os diferentes servi\u00e7os, conforme vimos na figura. A International Telecommunications Union, ITU-R (de r\u00e1dio), \u00e9 um organismo internacional de regulamenta\u00e7\u00e3o das diferentes faixas de utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>A maioria das transmiss\u00f5es utiliza uma banda estreita (narrow) de frequ\u00eancias (i.e. \u0394f\/f &lt;&lt; 1) de modo a obter melhor recep\u00e7\u00e3o. Entretanto, em alguns casos, o transmissor salta de freq\u00fc\u00eancia em freq\u00fc\u00eancia em um padr\u00e3o regular, ou ent\u00e3o as transmiss\u00f5es s\u00e3o intencionalmente espalhadas (spread) sobre uma banda maior. Esta t\u00e9cnica \u00e9 chamada SpreadSpectrum\u00a0 (1995).
