A figura (a) tem quatro combina\u00e7\u00f5es v\u00e1lidas e pode ser usada para transmitir dois bits por s\u00edmbolo. Ela \u00e9 QPSK\u00a0 -Quadrature Phase Shift Keying\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0 chaveamento por deslocamento de fase de quadratura.<\/p>\n<p>Na figura (b) observamos uma outra estrutura de modula\u00e7\u00e3o, na qual s\u00e3o usadas quatro amplitudes e quatro fases, dando um total de 16 combina\u00e7\u00f5es diferentes. Esse esquema de modula\u00e7\u00e3o pode ser usado para transmitir quatro bits por s\u00edmbolo. Ele \u00e9 chamado QAM-16 (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0 modula\u00e7\u00e3o por amplitude de quadratura). A QAM-16 pode transmitir, por exemplo, 9.600 bps por uma linha de 2.400 bauds.<\/p>\n<p>A figura (c) \u00e9 um outro esquema de modula\u00e7\u00e3o.
